Minamana Earrings

$48.00Price

These Minamana Earrings feature vintage carabao bone beads and buri nut beads from the Philippines, they are designed inspired by ancestral pre-colonial jewelry and adornments. May they form roots and breathe remembrance. Comes with 18k gold stainless steel nickel free hook.

The nwang (carabao, kalabaw) is the Philippine national animal and “beast of burden” that represents the hard-working Filipino and their perseverance. They help us to plow the fields, which is principal to rice cultivation and agriculture. Among certain groups, it is the ultimate sacrificial animal involving ceremonial rituals to appease certain deities or spirits, and providing food and milk for the community. Their horns are used for bolo hilts, adornment, amulets, and more.

Each adornment has been smoke cleansed with anglem (burned twined cotton cloth) infused with dragon's blood resin in order to release and drive away malevolent spirits or energies.
